It begins!
« on: May 14, 2013, 12:15:40 PM »
Just got my new arrows and some luminoxs sent to me from my client The Burt Coyote Company.  The pic shows my 1st shot at 50yrds(pic was taken at 30) and I was surprised my bow was still dead on.  Still lots of practice to do but I wouldn't want to be an elk within 40-50 yards depending on conditions this year!

I just started shooting with lighted knocks this week as well. Bow doesn't seem to be off or if it is its very little. I don't know if its cause of the knocks or not but I do notice my arrow corkscrewing. I don't know if it has always done this and I only notice it now cause of the knock or is it something out of whack.

The lighted knocks do add more weight to the back end of your arrow. You might want to check for FOC (front of center) percentage.

Hey Skills,
That water behind your target will definitely force you to focus on that target ;)

Why do you think a lighted nock should allow for farther shots?

Who said anything about farther shots?

I know my nockturnals dont change anything out to 70 yards. I can shoot a regular arrow nock then the lighted and they will hit the same :dunno:

Those are the ones I'm using.

To me your original post seemed to imply that you would be shooting farther with a lighted nock than before.  I apologize if I misinterpreted that.

No need to apologize dreaminbig.  What I meant was it was my 1st shot with my new arrows and nocks.  It was also my 1st shot of the season.  I was feeling pretty good hitting that close without any adjustments at that range.  I am right on out to 70yrds but ethicly think I should try to shoot my elk at 50yrds or less.

Last night I was shooting out to 70yrds and hitting the bullseye with no problem.  70yrds is my farthest pin.  I know I could kill an elk at 70 but at that range the smallest amout of wind could make me miss by a lot so thats why I want an elk 50 or less.
