When you are board....Update! Finished!!!
« on: May 22, 2013, 10:42:39 PM »
.......and you just dropped your mother off at the doctors with an Ace Hardware starring you down on the other side of the street, you go buy pvc pipe  :chuckle: Yes, after writing a 10 page DRAFT for my English class I needed to get real work done  :chuckle:

The first is just a simple clam cannon, but mine is better than all of yours because it has a hockey stick for the handle :tung:

The second is an idea that I got from another forum, which got it from someone else. I still need one more elbow, 2' more of 2" pvc, and to bring some paddle screws off of the job site, but here is what I have so far. It is supposed to be a couple rod holders and a mount for a fishfinder. I will probably throw a drink holder on or something else too. I will post a pic of the finished product.

And sharpen the bottom of that clam gun! Nothing like horrible resistance from a flat piece of PVC :bash:

The rod holder is looking good. Thinking about building something like that for my kayak as well. You headed out on the sound this weekend? Weather/tides look iffy? I'll most likely be doing some bass fishing from my yak if you are interested (seattle area).

I have a little manual down rigger that clamps on to the side of a boat. It came on a boat I had about 10 years ago. The guy that owned the boat before me used it for Kokanee fishing. You can have it if you want it, it may work good on your kayak. Count it as a pay it forward.

Just think how great a 10lb cannonball would help for your balance on your kayak Kola! :chuckle:

No no no smossy, a 3 pounder is all you'd want to use. That's what the guy used for kokanee. That would be very doable out of a kayak.

First off, Ripper...my gratitude is unexplainably high! Thank you!!!!!

The rod holder is looking good. Thinking about building something like that for my kayak as well. You headed out on the sound this weekend? Weather/tides look iffy? I'll most likely be doing some bass fishing from my yak if you are interested (seattle area).
I will be out in the north sound trying to pull up a ling. I have been in 6 ft. swells pulling up and carrying crab pots soooooo.......the sound is nothing :chuckle:

And sharpen the bottom of that clam gun! Nothing like horrible resistance from a flat piece of PVC :bash:
Don't worry, I did
Just think how great a 10lb cannonball would help for your balance on your kayak Kola! :chuckle:
I have done it with a redneck downrigger and it actually works fine  :chuckle:

I finished it tonight. A couple rod holders, 4 other miscellaneous holders (knife, pliers etc.), and a place to mount a fishfinder transducer. I will still add a cup holder, but the Ace I went to today didn't have any 4" pvc :P I will try it on the water Saturday  :IBCOOL: Total costs about $20-$25

Thanks! You (or anyone for that matter) are more than welcome to join me on a yak excursion. They are a blast! I need to spray paint it to match the rest of the boat, then it would work great to drape some fake cattails/dead grass over it for a better duck blind 8)

And yes they are very lightweight. I put mine on top of my civic :chuckle:
