Fishing Charters around Portland?
« on: May 23, 2013, 09:55:33 PM »
I gotta take my wife to a confrance in portland soon, anyone reccomend a boat I can get on as a single fisherman? I don't really want to drive all the way to fish out of Ilwaco, so was hoping to sturgen fish closer to Portland. I can't afford to book an entire boat, so am looking for a boat that reserves spots, like at Ilwaco or Westport. Thanks!

What dates are you looking at? A buddy of mine guides that area. He charges by the person. Let me know if you want contact info and I can get it to you.

Fished sturgeon today, everyone caught a short, no keepers, pretty slow. Paul seems like a great guy, and knows how to fish. I am looking forward to salmon /steelhead tomorrow!

http://columbiariverfish.com/.  Erik can put you on fish.  He may have spots open and can squeeze you in but you will have to go for whatever species that group is going for.  Best bet is to listen to the guide and he'll put you on fish.  Don't think he likes sturgeon fishing as much so you have to push him to do that one if you want.

Paul is awesome. He used to be a member on here. Not sure if he still is.

He kills the steelhead also. I bet you might catch some tomorrow fishing for chinook.

well, fishing was on the slow side Sunday. Not Paul's fault, that guy is a great fishermen and guide. One native king to the boat was the only fish we landed. A new fishermen from Germany lost a 30 ponder at the boat, and another 20ish pound king was lost close to the boat as well. Hard to teach new fishermen to do simple things to make netting fish easier. I did not get a chance to fight one, but we had 7 or 8 good hits, fish just were not getting hooked. Its only gonna get better as the summer fish move in. I would highly recommend Great NW rivers guide service, you will have fun.
