My wife and were talking and was wondering what the taste difference between brown bear and black bear? I have had black bear but not brown bear. Has anyone ate brown bear?

I have heard that mountain griz and blacks taste pretty much the same, good if they've been eating grass and berries. Coastal browns and blacks that feed on fish and seaweed taste like sea gulls, nasty!

Depends what they're eating. I don't know for sure the stipulations but I believe the bear seasons where the bears are eating on fish you're not even required to take meat. Basically a trophy hunt and that's it. The meat may be inedible, not only a bad taste.
