Memorial Weekend Sturgeon
« on: May 27, 2013, 01:56:07 PM »
Spent the long weekend down at my dad's place on the Columbia. Saturday we spent the early morning trying for a Salmon or Steelhead with no luck, so after a quick lunch my brother in law and I headed out Sturgeon fishing. After and hour and a half we had our two keepers (42" and 45") and had released 3 shakers and an oversize. Sunday we decided to sleep in and skip the Salmon/Steelhead fishing. So after lunch, we headed back out Sturgeon fishing, but this time the wives came along. We fished from about 1pm-5:30pm and managed two more keepers (41" and 44") and about 10 shakers. Now I am tagged out for the year, and possibly my lifetime. I have about 2 hours of gopro video that I need to edit as well.

Yep, Brent, might be the last Sturgeon you'll ever be able to tag and eat...  Heading down for the Bonneville Pool opener and finishing up my LAST "Keeper" Sturgeon ever too!

I haven't tagged a sturgeon in a long time, like 10 years. If anybody needs an experienced anchor setter/puller i would gladly pitch in for fuel, bait and lunch...

Sweet!!!  We also tried for salmon and steelhead this weekend with only one take down.  Switched to sturgeon and had way more fun. Wife got a 54 and I got a 52. 4 gallon bags full of meat.  YUM!
