Lake Roosevelt??
« on: May 27, 2013, 08:45:00 PM »
Has anyone ever bow fished lake roosevelt? Is it legal? I have never done it but I think it would be a blast on that lake. Anyone know if its legal?

Scott (Stickers),

Your question relies upon the implication that WDFW has a thought process!

I'm sure there is something.....I hope this is one of the restrictions that we can see lifted if we are able to organize bowfishers in this state. Most of the time restrictions are made without a challlenging voice. I think we need to dig into this one.

I think it has to do with grass carp. They dont want us killing carp since the grass carp keep the aquatic vegetation down.  I could be wrong.

Grass carp are illegal to shoot state wide. Coukd be though if they think there's an abundance of them and they coukd be accidentally shot.

Its pretty cut and dry in the regs. Its illegal to bow fish for carp on Roseavelt. Which is totally rediculas! :bash:

I was looking for it this year when we were up there and couldn’t not find it anywhere in the fishing regs.

I can find it for the northern most section of the sanpoil but nothing about Roosevelt. If I don't hear anything here in the next day or two I will call the department.

I usually go to Long Lake for carp, (watched a guy wack em pretty good this weekend) would have never thought to even check for Roosevelt.  Might have saved myself a ticket over the years by not wanting to drive for carp.  Things that make you go  :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
