Found my first good elk shed!
« on: May 29, 2013, 08:43:54 AM »
Last year I found the base of an elk shed, the rest had been chewed off. Since then I've been hooked.  I found my first pretty good shed on Sunday! It's only a 4pt, but its in good shape and the tips are polished nicely.  Here it is, how I found it. Going to try to find the match this coming weekend!  Any tips on finding it?  I figure ill just work in circles out from where I found this one.

That is great! Once you get started on this, you will find yourself looking down and around more often than you ever have before.

You can do circles or look for obvious trails or bedding areas. It's tougher to find pairs of smaller antlers, they could hang on for days. The really big guys tend to drop right by each one, close by at least. Good luck, you'll have fun looking at least!
“In common with”..... not so much!!
