Okanogan trout help

OK, my brother and I are planning on taking the kids over for a few days of fishing around our cabin in north Okanogan. It is looking like it will be the third week in June as he and I did it in 1999 and had a great time. I know they have treated a lot of the lakes over there and expect fishing to be different but we really want to make it fun for our kids (ages 11-13). We will likely fish a few of the lakes in the Sinlihekin (Fish and Fjord but I may take the boy and pontoon boats to Blue as well). I am certain we will fish Lost and probably Wannacut too. I would like any help you guys can offer as to lures, times of day, and general advice. We are not opposed to going to other lakes but trying not to spent too much time in the truck as we are supposed to be fishing. We will be taking a 14' boat with electric motor (and oars when the wind comes up). Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I love, love, love Okanogan County!  If there we just some IT jobs to be had out there.  Oh well, let's talk fishing.  Last summer when I was visiting my buddy who has a cabin out in the Aeneas Valley we hit Crawfish Lake.  We tried it from the bank plunking powerbait but absolutely no action.  So, it was back down the mountain to crab the canoe and boy was that the ticket!

The lure of the day was without a doubt the Blue Fox Spinner in Fire Tiger.  We would toss that sucker out there and WHAMO! 

Such a beautiful little lake and we met some nice folks out there too.

Thanks guys, we are definitely pop gear folks, trailed with wedding rings or some small hot shot or other lure. The boy has been collecting worms all spring so we should have plenty to feed the fish with  . I will bring my largest trolling motor to test the speed idea. I bet we generally troll a little slow on the west side as well. I will also check into crawfish lake, most likely a little farther drive but if you are already into the trip 300 miles what is a couple more for good fishing  .

Conconully isn't fished out yet, and they're planting more.
Fish lake is always good for a quick limit of smaller trout.
Wannacut is starting to see the annual migration of camper trailers.

It's warming up right now so the largemouth bass fishing is kicking right now in a bunch of lakes if the kids get bored trolling and want to keep busy casting. Bring a bow and shoot some carp too.

None of us have ever bass fished  but I know my son would love to catch a couple. Where is good for that? I remember seeing several when we floated to Okanogan river while in scouts but we did not fish. More info would be great on what lakes and baits/lures. This is good stuff, thanks

We fished Beaver lake (Chesaw rd.) a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't keep the trout off our hooks. All we used is power bait, on the bottom with a slip sinker. Rainbow trout 14"-20" range.

Check out Whitestone for bass, perch, and catfish. It's right there close to where you'll be hanging out.

Great info guys. Thank yo so much. Is beaver one of the lakes along the road as you head from Chesaw towards the east (kettle river/Curlew)? I think the state just rehabbed them.

What do you mean by rehabbed them? Like they restocked?

I know the State poisoned Little Beaver not too long ago because of the perch. I was able to fish it before that, it was a blast and the perch were huge! What a waste, those perch tasted 100 times better than those slime rockets they want to replant in there.

No, I heard that had re-tenoned (sp) them I think it was last year? I heard the eagles we eating very well and were close enough to the road for some great pictures.

Thanks for all the help guys. We ended up fishing Wannacut (OK fishing but smaller fish), Spectacle (or Skeptical as my niece says  ), Lost (out of Chesaw) and Fish in the Sinlihekin. Lost had the biggest fish but not many and Fish  had the best fishing....well best if you are a kid with little patience and think you should have a fish on the line every few minutes  . There is never enough time and we will certainly need to go back a few more times to really get it dialed in. We did get the grass around the cabin knocked down and a new wood shed built and started filling it. We had rain everyday and man was it coming down on Thursday, thought I was on the wet side  . Again thanks to the folks who helped with info  .

ive had great luck trolling flashers with the tasmanian devil lures with power bait, also any rooster tails, spoons, etc. Also whip up some mystery scent of garlic and other store sold scents in one... works well for us..
