yes, first dont bonk them just rip the gill and let the blood gush out, gut them, and get them in ice immediately

I usualy bleed them out ( cut/ tear the gills then put them on a stringer and put them back into the lake and some times they keep swimming for a few mins and bleed out. Maybe I will start carring ice with me and gutting them.
