Observatory Bull Tag
« on: June 19, 2013, 04:45:26 PM »
Just drew an observatory bull tag with 3 points, and a Colfax Doe tag.  I feel like I won the lottery.

Nice. I've had that tag twice, rifle and muzzy. Good luck. Scout scout scout

Modern firearm, general season.  I will be doing a lot of scouting.  I'm nervous though, I only had 3 points so I feel super lucky to get it.  I don't want to waste it.  I feel like I have a lot of pressure now.

Lots of road hunters (sometimes not a bad thing) do lots of scouting, and get back in off the road a ways. I would like to be over there looking 3 to 5 days before the season. Good luck and have fun

That time of year the majority of the animals will be deep and steep. Not a hard tag to fill if you can find out where the elk like to hide when the pressure hits. Send me a PM after September if you are having a hard time.

I drew the same tag... after 15 years of trying.  Looks like my weekends between now and November are full. :IBCOOL:

Wow awesome , I didn't know they actually gave those out. Been putting in for Observatory for over 10 years :bash:. Good luck and congratulations

My dad and I drew the same tags. I had 9 points and he had 10. This is actually the first time that I have been able to hunt big bulls since I was a kid. I can't believe I am finally geting a chance. There are many quality bulls in the area but you are going to have to work for them. It's not like hunting the other side of the valley.

Good advice here... think steep and thick.  Many of the bulls I've encountered in this unit were within 10 - 15 yards... in areas that you can't see further than that.

Congrats Kbrowne!   That will be a fun tag!  Ive hunted that area for the last 5 years for spikes and cows and every year i have gotten close to some nice bulls! You have a great chance of getting a bull.  My advice dont worry about the points...have fun, look for destinct game trails...because they will be traveling them especially on opening day of spike.
