I'm guessing that all you need is a draw knife and a small wood plane and some wood files... and somethign to hold the bow when your making it.  Never built one myself.

@ quadrafire i had read through that one. And its not bad for using a little bit of tools. Interesting read.

@ special t that's interesting i might have to look into their bow building class.

Also, if you look at "The Bowyer's Bench" on tradgang you will find all sorts of info. on traditional bow building.  There is also a good "how to" in the "How To - Resources" section on tradgang, and it is titled "crafting excellent woodies the easy and cheap way."
