I'll be there as well running around during archery season with Ed and crew.  I'll be making it over there hopefully in the next few weeks to get some cams up as well. Hope to see some of you hunt-wa guys out there.

Making a concerted evert to get over there this next week, probably Tuesday/Wednesday. Going to cover a lot of ground and get familiar with the lay of the land. Anyone else going to be around? I know midweek trips are difficult for most, sorry for not being a team player!

The online scouting has been very productive for me! I've been able to limit it down to a few key areas that I'm going to focus on and then branch out from there as need be. Getting super excited. I've been out bear scouting over here riding my bike and getting in shape. Going to need to be in tip top to give it my all come October.

Well my week day scouting trip has just been scratched due to work. Being self employed is awesome, the felxibilty can be great, but the knowledge that you can't pass up business when it calls, even if its one day before a planned trip, is very frustrating. Maybe next week.   :bash:

I'm heading over on Friday beaslayler. we will be in a red Nissan titan. Probably going to spend thisfirst weekend there just learning some of the roads and seeing a few trail cams  any suggestions on where to camp, don't really want to stay at a campground, is there much for spots on the forest service roads?

There is a few nice pull off spots off the main roads you can get a camper into or pitch a tent in. Get them early before the season starts people lay claim to them pretty early up there.

There is a ton of camp spots up thoses FS roads. Mainly the 1200 and 500 series roads. These are down lower and on the east edge of the unit per say. All near the airport.

If you want to get up higher head up to Conrad meadows. Spots all the way up.

I have the RR archery bull tag as well. Lots of good country to check out. I'll be up again this weekend. I will look for you. I am going solo. I will probably be up in CM area.  Driving a small grey 4 door. As always, camp is Hunt WA friendly!

Hey et, you don't know hal do you. He lives in duvall, president of Seattle chapter of rocky mountain elk foundation. You never know, it is a small world sometimes

Hi Seatown,

I have met Hal.  Purchased a fundraising RMEF picture he had posted up at Xtapa a couple years ago.  But, don't know him personally.  I think he said he mostly used to hunt rifle seasons.  I've been mostly archery now for almost 33 years.

BTW, I was over there this last weekend checking three of my trail cams.  I had branch antler bulls on all of them!  You guys shouldn't have a problem tagging out.

Hey Justan,  I'll pick you up on Thursday evening the 25th and we can do some more scouting on Friday and Saturday, 26th and 27th.  Again, for any of you HuntWA guys that will be in the neighborhood, we'll be in a dark blue 2001 Dodge 3/4ton diesel.  SO, you should hear us coming...lol.

Wife's birthday this weekend, anniversary next - my boots won't hit Rimrock until August!  I will be in a white 2009 Dodge crew cab, purple lupus awareness ribbon on the tailgate.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

These fires are definitely putting a damper on scouting. In all honesty though, there is some areas over there that could use an under burn. Lets just hope this doesn't spread to crazy. I imagine the bow Hunters are much more stressed than me. Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure my game camera went up in a blaze of glory. It is right in the middle of the fire. Who would have thought. Good luck to all the brave fire fighters. That is horrible area to fight a fire
