A garmin gps with huntwa map will tell ya most landowner info so you have a starting point.  County assesors geodata maps as well.  What is 10-10 tag?

Where do you live?  Are you local or is it a drive?   Start knocking on doors.  Your son has the potential of killing a great elk with this tag.  Do a little legwork this summer and you should be set.  Have him go knock on the door.  Landowners always give preference to the kids, at least that's how it seems.
If you aint hunting, you aint livin'

That's too bad!  How many points did he have?  Crazy that out of the 2 permits they gave out for this tag he got it.  Sending you a PM.

You are not going to have an easy time finding ground to hunt.  If you want to fork out some money it would be a different story.  That hunt was more or less set up for landowners.  Good luck

It's the name of a special permit hunt, covers gmu 163 and elk area 10-10.

What's a 10-10 tag?

10-10 tag is the elk special permits they created for private land in the Dayton unit. It was mostly created to appease the landowners who wanted a better shot at drawing permits to hunt the land they own rather than making them compete with all the other Dayton permit applicants. Basically, if you don't have private land access, you shouldn't apply for it because you're going to have a real hard time getting permission to hunt.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

A list of all those hunts that are most or all private would sure be handy.

If you read the area description of 10-10 it says "all land excluding National Forest."  Which essentially equals out to being able to hunt private, since there are two types of land there, private and National Forest
