Score doesn't mean much to me, I prefer a buck with mass, even if it has short points.

I helped my brother get this buck on his late tag, he passed it the first day but I was able to convince him it was bigger than what he thought. Like a lot of guys he was hung up on width and a perfect frame.

Long story short, its a main frame 4x4, has a 3" and a 5" point and still scores 170", right at 40" of mass, 5 7/8" bases.
LOOKING @ his hand ..I doubt I would be passing him up .. :dunno: :brew:

The one in my avatar.  Old, very big bodied buck.  He's got mass at the bases and most the way up, but he's not wide enough and has week backs not enough overall length.  I'd shoot him every year for the rest of my life and be quite happy.

I love looking at this buck.  I like mass over score.  Do you have anymore pics of this buck you can post?

This is a huge bodied muley taken by my trail camera up NE during the late archery whitetail season. Any guess as to how wide he is? He won't score very well because he's wider than his main beams are long and that back fork is small. I think his body size even makes the rack look smaller. I saw him once in person going away from me and his rear quarters are dang near 3 ft wide.

Here's another great looking buck that netted 173. He has a 31" inside spread but that back fork killed his score.

I don't know if my Tucannon buck qualifies as a great frame but he does have real weak fronts. I think some better g4's would have really helped.
25" wide, he was 150".
Yeah but the pics kick butt!
