Out of state muley
« on: October 03, 2013, 09:02:55 AM »
My brother in law and I went out muzzleloader season in new mexico. First day out we had some competition in the field as another hunter pulled in behind our truck and glassed the area, found us, found where my brother in law was glassing and spotted this buck! The lousy skunk actually tried doing the russian march to beat us to the buck, luckily the guy wasn't an off hand shooter and didn't pull the trigger right away, Plus the fact that we were 45-50 yards in FRONT of him,  30 seconds after my brother in law downed this buck, the other guy fired, STILL behind us but off to the side " Rude I thought" and got a nice 3x3.

We originally thought 60-75 yard shot, but my brother in law went back a few days later to show some people around the area and he figures it was at least 100 yards. The buck was behind some brush and so only the head/neck area presented itself for a shot. 110 grains Blackhorn209, 260gr PT Gold in yellow MMP ez load sabot, CCI 209 Magnum primer, ended the season 1 hour 10 minutes into the hunt. I do have a video, but had a hard time editing due to a hard drive going bad, just installed a new hard drive last night and still uploading drivers and video card updates. Once thats all set up, I'll make a new video to post. Saw an awesome 5x5 bull just standing on a hill side looking at us and bugling LOL.

Nice muley. When was your hunt? Curious since he is still in velvet.
OTC or draw?

:yike: can not fathom how I would handle someone shooting that close/behind me. That could easily be perceived as a threat.  :yike:

September 24th. I know it! That about had us in underwear changing mode.

There were 4 other bucks in the group, all much smaller but they didn't look like they had velvet on them.
