TIKKA T-3 in 260, quick review
« on: June 26, 2013, 11:51:56 PM »
Had a couple $$ burning a hole on my pocket, and I've been wanting to get a right hand hunting rifle for a loaner. Found this TIKKA T-3 in 260 that fills the requirements to a T.
With shooting light fading fast, I dug out the only 1" scope I had that wasn't mounted. A cheap 3-12 went on board, then found brass, bullets, and dies. Loaded 40 grains of MR2000 under 123 A-Max's with WLR primers. Loaded as long as the mag would allow and headed to the range.
First shot into the dirt, then these 3 at 100 for a nice 3/4" C-C group. With proper optics, adjusted trigger, and a little load work, I'm confident I'll get it to hover around 1/2" easy.
Fit and finish on the rifle is very good. Trigger pull is too heavy, but adjustable. The rifle shows accuracy potential for sure. Recoil was very manageable and rounds fed very smooth from the magazine. I'll adjust the trigger right away, then find 30mm rings so I can mount my Night Force 2.5-10.
Next will be to work up a  load using 130 hunting VLD's.
Overall very happy with the rifle.

Nice.

You never hear anything bad about a Tikka, and the 260 is a pretty cool caliber.

They are shooters. All of ours will shot 1/2-3/4 with a good hand load and us doing our part.

Other than a $2000 price tag what more could one want for a gun that shoots this well?
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

When i took my wife to Highmountain to pick out her birthday present, the tikka T3 is what she grabbed. But now its been fitted to her with a manners T4 and a .260 bbl. With a littler tuning the trigger breaks like glass, and the bolt is buttery smooth right out of the box!
I started dry heaving and gagging so bad. I about puked up my daily dose of Redbull.

That makes for an awesome rifle with that stock. Wanted to put one this on my 30" heavy contour, Vias breake, factory stocked 300 WSM T3. But the hogged out stock worked till I sold it!  Would love to see your build Fuzz!
