I crabbed in the Hood Canal the last couple days.   Caught 15 on Thursday.  14 Friday and haven't checked the lots again....   All dungies.   Some over 7 inches.

Left 6 pots at Quartermaster over night. One of my buddies was late this morning so we right after salmon before checking the pots. When we did, we found one pot was missing, 3 pots were completely emply and the other two had a combined 4 Dungee's and 2 nice rock crab.

Pretty crappy haul for an over night soak and 3 guys to share with  :bash: :bash: :bash:

Man............I'm beat. Had a good morning on the water. We did better shallower than we did deeper. Got 12 keeper dungies from six and a half to seven and half. Used a mix of chicken, herring, and flounder. From the GoPro I learned a few things. Mainly, crab will come and go. I saw a few that looked like keepers leave when another was coming in. Very cool to see the crab pot view.

Yep...they are cool. Feels good to get 12 and call it good. We could have limited with one more soak but had plenty. Gopro worked perfect.

That's really neat video h2O! Thanks!
A slip ring pot would work great where you're crabbing.

H2O.  How long from the time you dropped the pot until the time there was 5 or 6 in there?

I only had footage from two drops. Running constantly sucks the batter life. So...on the first drop no crabs showed up for about 15 minutes. On the second drop it only took about 5. When there are a lot of crab around the pot they come and go as the gate is open. The dogfish showed up right away and as you can see they really tried to get to the bait.

I was asking because if you could, over time, track when about the most crabs were in the pot, you could best time when to pull the pot.  If it takes an hour for it to fill to maximum crab and over the next 3 hours, the numbers flux as crabs go in and out, you could deduce the best time to pull pots for maximum crab.  I think everyone here would benefit from this info

It was all over the place.......no real patten about when during the whole soak. Luck of the draw when you decide to pull it.
