My guess is because it became a pointless thread for both sides to bash the other.

In all seriousness, a thread starts out with a good point and a reason for being, then devolves into just one type of person dog-piling the other and the point is gone and has no hope of returning, 95% of the time, we're going to lock it, regardless of the type of topic or the intended destination of it at first. That's why I locked it. We're all for conversation but when it turns into what that thread turned into, it's all done.
