All elk sound different, no one is going to sound the exact same as the other one. There were a few entries that just sounded abit to much one toned. But this is just my opinion and in this case it doesn't matter.  :chuckle: Good luck to all that entered and happy hunting this year. May your tags all get notched! Hunt hard and try to keep the wind in your favor.

I agree that all elk are going to sound different and I was just giving some feedback on why I thought caller 7 wouldn't win the contest is all. I also agree with elk247 that it definitely sounded like a terminator type bugle. I won't deny that a lot of bulls fall victim to this type of call every year. Just to me they don't sound "elky" enough to win an elk calling contest.  But again..just my opinion

Barrys Thunder Bugle
And for around 5-6 hours this guy thought it sounded "elky" enough.

5-6 hours! i bet #1 or #6 could have called it in in less that an hour.  :stirthepot: haha. just kidding man. had to do it. i dream of a bull like that some day.

:chuckle: He had cows and stayed just out of sight and bow range, It was a crazy bugle fest back and forth, I would match the sound of his bugle pretty well with that call. I just kept the wind in my face and kept calling until one of his cows finally came to check me out, he tried to cut her off hooking her with his rack and send her back up the hill, that's when I sent my arrow. Amazing hunt! Lots of bugleing back and forth. One of many crazy bugle fests that we have had using that call. I used to have another bugle that you all would laugh at if you heard it, but you all would $#!t if you knew how many bulls had been called in with that weird sounding bugle. More with that old challenge bugle than I could count!!!!

Waiting on one more judge  :sry:  The judges being so rooted in the elk hunting industry become very busy this time of the year.

I Think maybe its time we coax the name of the remaining judge out of mr. Phelps and let the hazing begin.  :chuckle:

Caller #   AVG         Corey          Paul        Dirk       Joel       Jason                                   Comments (Corey Jacobsen)
6           25             24               26            27        23           ProStaff  (no score)                     Great cow calls. Great bugles. Add some voice/growl to beginning of bugles.
3           21.4          22               22            20       21              22                                             Good cow sounds, great chuckles.
1           19.2           20             17            20       19              20                                             Decent cow calls, little too high-pitched. Flutey bugles with good chuckles…add more voice/growl at beginning.
4           17.8           19             14            22       16              18                                             Tinnie bugles, chuckles. OK cow sounds. Great screams.
2           16.4           14             16            19       15              18                                             Squeeky cow calls. Bugle is decent, need to work on chuckles.
7            14            13              10            16       16              15                                             Need more versatility in cow sounds. Add some voice to the bugles (beginning and end). Get some diaphragms and practice to add more versatility.
5           13.6           15             10            15       14              14                                            Use your mouth to lip the sound "E-O" for cow sounds. Add growl at beginning of bugles. Bugles are "weak", chuckles are good.

I will figure out the prizes and post them.  Caller #6 was not eligible for any prize from Phelps Game Calls.  After talking with him he told me to divvy it up amongst the other callers.
