remington 11-87 front sight.
« on: July 09, 2013, 05:36:04 PM »
Not sure if this is in the right section, hopefully it is...

Last year my shotgun was stolen from my truck right before I left for opening day of duck season, it ended up back in my driveway a few weeks later, after I put the fear of god into my neighbor kid, but it was pretty beat up and rusty, they broke the hi-viz fiber optic sight off of the gun, I dont remeber exactly what brand I had, but I was never super happy with it, though I do prefer a fiber optic tube type sight.

I just pulled the gun out of its case today to start getting it ready for hunting season, and got to thinking about replaceing the broken sight.
Does anyone have a reccomendaton for a decent front sight that is either made for a remington vent rib barrel, or one that will mount secure that I wont have to fiddle with or wont move if laid against brush or the blind? I have the stock bead somewhere in my gun toolbox, but like to have a red or green dot up front, easier for me to track while pulling up on passing birds.

Thanks in advance.

I have a hi-viz on my 1100. Came with several tubes I can change out.  Had it installed by a gunsmith because the factory bead was pressed into the net rib.  Had it installed about three years ago and have been eal happy with it- no troubles.

my 870 has a screw in type bead, i installed a tru glo "fat bead" on it.  it's a fiber optic, green outside with red center.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun
