Idaho whitetail 2005
« on: November 30, 2008, 08:22:04 PM »
I figured id post a few of my old hunts from years past. Here is my idaho whitetail from Orofino a few years back. I went school in lewiston and man the fishing and hunting is unreal!! so my buddy grew up in orofino and knows everyone so we had tons of private land! I saw a ton of bucks and never could get a shot, well thats a lie.. lol I missed a monster at 19.. yes 19yrds one night, we were walking back after i got busted on a stalk of 4 bucks on a hill side, it was almost  dark and I looked up in a thicket and out steped this massive 5x5 buck, his horns were about 5 in past his ears and there he was broadside, i said 30 yrds, out the pin on his heart and watched my arrow go 4 in over his back!! I swear he was 30, but in actuality only 19   :'( I have alays had my rangefinder ever since!.. anyways ironically enough this buck came on public land, we were driving  and he crossed the road in front of us chasing a doe, I got out and went in after him, I heard the doe snort to my left and walked slowy after the sound, I looked up and was amazed as he was standing there broadside at 45yrds! my arrow hit home and he went 30yrds and was done! hes not a monster but a perfect 3x3 with eyeguards.. and man did he eat well!!!

Bummer about the big one but like you said the little one was better eating.
