Took the family camping on the Sol Duc last night and got a scouting trip in today. Didn't expect to see much as we didn't start hiking until 2 but was pleasently suprised. Saw a group of cows with a couple calves down in the reprod. The two bonus sightings for the trip were a nice bear across a draw and a huge bobcat that crossed the skid path 30 feet in front of us. BTW, hauling around a squirming 3 year old on your back all afternoon is a great way to get in shape fast. She was amazingly quiet though and loved sitting up on the landings with me glassing. We ended the day by going back to the river and catching some cutthroat on ultralight tackle. Great day overall.
