Olympic Bull Tag
« on: July 13, 2013, 08:55:22 PM »
I'm a young bow hunter who is somewhat new to the area (it was my 3rd choice  :o). Any PMs with areas to check out or people to talk to would be greatly appreciated. My scouting trips so far haven't turned up much. I'm willing to hike just about anywhere! Thanks in advance. Good luck to anyone else who drew!

That's what I've been doing and it hasn't been going too well. Just hoping to narrow down my search a bit is all, its a big unit with big country. Thanks!

Most of the good elk are down on the farms. I would check around with them. Most of the people I know of that get elk there are getting them on private property. They seem to be pretty nice about letting hunters in to tag a trophy. There's one in particular that seems to be the elk's favorite so I'll make a couple of calls today after I get back to see if I can come up with a name.
Up top there's not a lot of clearcuts to glass so it's pretty much going to be a walking hunt until you run into them.

When I worked at the Sequim waste water treatment plant the elk hung out on the hill behind it in the fields. Lots of elk near the farms.

Your big river drainages on Hood Canal have elk. Dosewallips, Duckabush, Hamma Hamma etc.
