New To Hunting
« on: July 25, 2013, 10:47:54 AM »
Didn't seem to have much replies in the deer forum so decided to post it here.Hello, I'm 15 years old and trying to learn as much as I can about hunting. I've been elk hunting once in GMU 346, I didn't really know what I was doing though. On top of that where we were camped there were hunters EVERYWHERE. So,I'm constantly on Google earth looking for other places to hunt, but my dad doesn't really have time to go and scout. Any help on where We could start looking that's within 3 hours would be greatly appreciated!, I live in Auburn

I'm not near you for hunting, bud. But keep watching the elk threads to gain lots of info. Welcome to a great forum.

Lots of information to be had here. Just go back through threads in Elk and Deer hunting. There's also a lot of great equipment threads, mapping threads, trailcam threads, etc.

What are you hunting with rifle? bow? muzzy? Elk areas are a lot more specific with that stuff, so it would be a good start to get that info and match up GMU regs with certain weapons. If you hunted 346 that is little naches so that's eastside elk, you have to figure out east/west when buying your tag. If you are in Auburn thats a good haul to eastside GMU's, most west side stuff close to you is private land or permit only as well. Just start going through the forums like piano man said you will find tons of info.

You gotta pick one or the other unless you have a multi-season tag.
