Packwood Elk
« on: July 25, 2013, 01:40:17 PM »
Ok, so I know there are Elk in the middle of town but I don't think they can be harvested. I'm going to try for a bull this year in that unit. Any suggestions on what to use or where to go. I will be hunting Archery and it is a 3pt min. This is my first year in that unit and don't mind doing a bunch of hiking. Any help will be appreciated.

Bring the bug spray and plenty of packing help. Going to be another hot one especially with the season starting Sept 3rd. The elk will be in the darkest timber on the north facing slopes and close to water. Good luck! Share your story and pics with us here.

huge unit with elk spread out all over it. use google earth and pick a few roads to access the area and then pin point areas to hike and scout during august. you may run into a bear or two so make sure you are packin a weapon.
