Even though I didnt draw any tags this year and I will live through the eyes of others at least for bulls I am still excited!  I dream of Elk and deer all the time but this time of year it is darn near a nightly thing!  I will be hunting in WY again this year for cows and that always gives me dreams of Elk in the high country!

I am so excited for our backcountry elk hunt in Oregon this September. I have been shooting at least 4-5 days per week and my dad has been shooting every day he isn't traveling for work. He lives in Oregon and we talk on the phone a few times per week and I am pretty sure that at least 75% of all our conversations are about this hunt. To say we are excited is a HUGE understatement.  :IBCOOL:

Went scouting this Saturday and set up some cameras, jumped and saw several elk while I was there!  September can't get here fast enough!

You bet! We're starting to get ramped up here in Idaho too! Good luck to all.

Paul, you and the other bow hunters drive me crazy.  For those of us rifle hunters (without special tags) we still have 3+ months to wait.  I am trying to not think too hard about this....

I know, you guys are going to spoil it for the rest of us with a photo festival in about 6 weeks from now.  (But best of luck to you all, of course.)

Elk season just got a bit sweeter for me... I was only going to have the last week of early archery off but as of Monday I found out that I will be getting laid off in 2 weeks with a nice severance package that will ensure I take all of september off!! I will likely buy an Idaho tag now as well. Kinda bittersweet, but I am STOKED!!!

Coach... I'm thinking atleast 3/4 full! lol. I have plenty of work to fall back on if needed, I have not been laid off or let go ever (with the exception of spring breakup when I logged). This will also be the most time in over 14 years that I have had to hunt and scout!! Gonna be a good year!
