Help with knife info......?
« on: July 28, 2013, 01:16:37 PM »
I was cleaning out my safe and found this knife tucked away. It was passed onto me from my uncle. He was stationed in Germany in the early 70's. He bought it there. That's all I know.
Anyone know anything about this knife?
Hand made, mass produced, value etc...?
Also, good way to clean up the blade?
Lastly, the sheath lost its stitching and has spider wire fishing line holding it together.
Anyone know where to get the correct stuff to fix the sheath or have new one made?
I live out side of Redmond.

Thanks.

I would take the sheath to the cobbler east of Dominos Pizza, in the parking lot of the Woodinville Value Village (former QFC)

I Googled it and came up with a bunch of info on the knives. It would be easier for you to check it out than for me to relay all the info available but it looks like a nice knife. I love that blade; should be one hell of a skinner!

I've recently done the same research as you.  The latest trend seems like people want to erase engraving, which I would think that the OP certainly doesn't want to do.

Thanks, I did a quick google search on it too. I knew it was a nice blade, but thought some knife guru on here could tell me more.
The other side is a little dull. Any suggestions to get it back to original or close finish?
I might just have to use it on some animals this year

Yup, scotch pad and metal polish. Cleaned right up.
I'll use it this year along with some others.
I usually pack my silver stag and cape and butcher with the others left at camp or home.
I have a a nice fillet knife I use too.
Yes....a havalon would save me time, but I just like traditional fixed blades.

I had one of those I bought back in the 70's.  I think it was at a Wester Auto or Coast to Coast, definitely in Shelton.  It is one of those knives I horse traded away, and now-a-days regret that I did.  Very well made German knife.
