Puyallup river king! ***Pics added!***
« on: August 02, 2013, 08:23:01 AM »
Hit the puyallup for a couple hours yesterday afternoon and saw a few pinks caught but I am new to the puyallup and this is only the third time I fished it so I began looking for a hole where no one was and shockingly I found it! Saw 10-15 pinks roll as I retied and then on my third cast fish on! I immediately new it was the big king I'd came for as the line spilled off my reel! It came close to spooling me twice as I'm using 12 pound test and didn't want to break her off. When I finally got it close to the bank I didn't have a net and there was a 8 foot drop to the river behind me with no where to beach it and I had to grab the lead and ease it in and throw it up the bank. It was an 18 pound chrome hen with 7 sea lice on it! I was and still am stoked for salmon season can't wait to go again Sunday!

I think that hole is actually about a mile past the corner, just past the third cottonwood on the left side of the right bank.

Secret spot  :chuckle: only hole I didn't see another person at on the river and I'd post pics but am too lazy to hook the iPhone up to my computer and download them! I bailed on my buddy Sunday cause I went horse camping for the weekend but he hooked a king about 30 pounds and as he tried to bank it the swivel broke! He also hooked 2 pinks and caught one of them
