Washington Predator Hunting Association November meeting

We will be having a meeting on November 2nd at the Cabela's in Lacey in a room to the right of the deli.  The meeting will start at 12:00 and run about 2 hours or so.  We will be covering general business, discuss the upcoming Coyote Classic #3, Egg Shoot, Swift Hunt Contest, buddy hunts, pass out some stuff and we will also be having Donny M from the WDFW  doing a seminar on Wolf issues within the state.  Please, this is not to be a bashing session with the WDFW but a source of information.

Can't make it--sorry.  I did see the lights of the Lacey Cabelas on the way to the Egg Shoot.  Found out that I was looking on the wrong side of the freeway the year before!

I can't be there but have a questions i'd love for you to ask.  How many wolves have they collared and what general area were they in, and have been.
Have they tried trapping any wolves out side of the NE corner of the state, IE the other 2 regions. I am curious about this because we know there are plenty of wolves in the E wa zone. We know they are in the N cascades but seem underreported, and have heard nothing about the SW.

•Recovery goals: The plan establishes a delisting objective of 15 breeding pairs of wolves that are present in the state for at least three years, with at least four in Eastern Washington, four in the northern Cascades, four in the southern Cascades/Northwest coastal area, and three others anywhere in the state. The plan also provides for WDFW to consider initiating the delisting process if 18 breeding pairs are documented during a single year, and the distribution objectives are met.   (wdfw mgt plan)

Read RCW 42.56.430 and pay special attention to (2)(C) (ii). When people threaten to kill wolves on sight all location information ceases by law. Not some conspiracy theory.

The law is so vague so they pretty much can do as they please.  With the wording it could be interperted to even hide the exsistance in the entire state.

Well they should be able to at least tell you how many have been collared and which of the 3 Management areas they have done so in. 1/3 of the state is pretty damn vague.

Just to let you know for those of you who missed it, Donny did an excellent presentation on their efforts of controlling, monitoring and managing the wolfs in Washington.  If you get the opportunity to see Donny's presentation, I would advise going to see it.  It was enlightening.
