Derringers
« on: August 06, 2013, 05:56:45 PM »
When I think of a Derringer. I think of the o'l saloon gal from Gun Smoke or a Riverboat Gambler and a different kind of Ace up their sleeve on the Mississippi River.

But what about today? My personal rule of thumb is nothing smaller than a 44 whether a 44 special or Mag for self defense and conceal carry. 45 ACP right on!

I just found out about this Derringer today. I like the bang. And after this Zimmerman episode this just might be the next thing. Your only going to hit your target when the bad guy is pummeling you like a UFC fighter. But I have no interest in going to that extent. I'm staying accurate.  :twocents: But for others? This might be the way to go.  :dunno:

Its a little big for two shots.  I can get a .45 lc traditional derringer more punch less bulk.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

They have one of them Double Taps up to Norpoint Shooting Range, The cost was about $450. I'll stick with my Bond Derringer in 45LC/410 loaded with 2 1/2" buckshot for close encounters.
I didn't like anything about the Double Tap. Most of the time I carry a 38 + P S&W or a Rossi stainless 971 in 357mag. For the big cities I carry my Colt Combat Commander. I'm a firm believer that you need enough fire power to stop any unwanted threats against your life. The Double Tap has enough power, but I don't like the package it's in.
