Anyone want permits to climb St Helens on Sat 8/10? (3 available)
«

I bought 8 permits to climb Helens on Saturday 8/10. It is looking like only 5 of my party can make it so I have three extra permits.
They are free to the first 3 people who wants them. You will need to meet me at the Climber's Bivouac on Friday night 8/9 to pick them up, but you will be free to climb on your own schedule. Most folks stay at the Bivouac/trail head the night before, and do an early assault on the hill (4 am to 8 am start time is typical).
These are hard permits to get - they only allow 100 per day and when they go on sale in Feb, they are usually gone in an hour or two after they become available. So if you take these, please promise me you will actually use them! I reserve the right to call "weltcher" on the forum if you are a no-show! Weather looks OK for the climb. mid 70's, partly cloudy with 10% chance of rain in Cougar WA.
Also be aware that While the climb is not technical, or super difficult, it is not a walk in the park. You need to be in reasonable shape, and carry enough water as there is no water source once you are on the hill (unless you want to melt ice or something like that...)
PM me if you want them

I would take them but I am already committed this Saturday. Great offer though.

It is really a fun hike. Mt St Helens has a special place in my past as I remember so clearly when it went off back in May of 1980.
She is calling folks, who wants to go???

PM replied to SI
I will put a soft hold on two permits for you till this evening.
Still one left, or possibly 3 if SI cannot make it (I'll put you in line)

Looks like SI cannot work it into the schedule for this weekend.
So still have three open if there is interest.
