POPE versus BONE
« on: October 22, 2008, 04:03:53 PM »
OK, so Pope takes pics of elk noses that have him pinned under a log and he gets blurry pics over his shoulder of bull moose running him down the road, but does he ever capture crazed squirrels on film.  Ravenous, rabid Squirrels??  Sometimes camo works too well I was dozing and the next thing I know I having this dream of some girl chewing on my neck, then she gets a bit rough and I come too with this squirrel trying to get one of the pinecones I have in my camo pattern out of the back of my neck.  I take a swing at him, I bet a tree has never done that to him, and then he clings to this tree for about 30 minutes with a very undignified look on his face, like WTF just happened.  He was there so long that his buddy came and took a look at him, ccled him and then left.  He didn't twitch.   I was upside down for this shot trying to get a pic before he bailed.  I didn't realize he might be there for 30 minute.

I think this guy saw it all as well.

I refrained from digging out my camera when one decided to try to go up my pantleg as once again I was standing so still, or maybe he just wanted to get out of the driving snow. :dunno:

Yeah, I think I would be more scared of a rodent than a big old moose or elk.  I guess it's the price we pay to get good images.  :)

By the way, I was out on a photo trip this summer and slept with my hand on an open bag of pepperoni...not a good idea.  I awoke to something biting my hand and had blood running everywhere.  I still have no idea what it was.  I'm bringing my tent next time though...

I picture a taxidermied squirrel with big fangs, except it might give me nightmares.  Grizz don't bother me, but them damn squirrels are fast and they go straight for the nuts.

First a moose and now a squirrel, the animals are loving Pope lately :chuckle:
