Rattler hunting?

Any one know any [places that would be good to go round up some rattlers. use to be a snake hunt some where in the state but havent heard of any lattly, man im sick of paying 15 to 20 bucks a pound for some tasty snake.

The densest population I have come across is along the Snake River Breaks between Pullman and Lewiston.  Walk the railroad tracks at sunset and through the night.  This is the only place I have ever been that I have actually worried about getting bit.  Everywhere else I have been, it is rare to come across one.

I see them pretty often in the Potholes south of Mardon. They don't get real big though. we caught this on a few days ago.

Dalton lake along the Snake river is crawling with rattlers. Wanapum lake along the columbia is cralwing... So is our deer camp somewhere in the entiat/chiwawa/swakane general area... We get a bunch during the grouse hunt, and usually only a couple during the deer hunt as they are usually heading below ground by that time.

There's a healthy population down on the tucannon too.
in fact thats the only place i've ever seen one alive.

My Uncle live in Clarkston and he goes across the snake and drives the road north of clarkston Route 193 heading west and he ends up getting several a night, they come off the railroad tracks at night and lay across the road and he will shine then with his headlights and shoot them.

seen my first rattler's earlier this year across the Highway from boneattict. werent rattlin still cold. good luck Krusty. Rick

my nieghbor killed one in his front yard yesterday. Bone a couple hundred a yer is pretty impressive I didnt relize there were that many in the wenas JB

Thankfully most of those weren't in my backyard, though if you stumbled into the right canyon, they probably could have been.

Rattle snake hunting is real fun.  But I've always seen them if you drive along a backroad that gets sun exposure and by nightfall the rattlers go lay on the road to get the warmth.  That's when you can see quite a few of them.

I was looking to buy some more land and found some cheap {$17,000 for 40 acres} just north of Moses Lake. Down, I think it was "E" street, to a Game Dept. parking area. Willow Lake it was called. Rattles everywhere along the edge of the water. Lots of doves too. I didn't buy it, too remote.

my brother lives in the wenas area and he said there every where out there.

Their telling people not to bother fishing Rat lake {near Brewstwer} because of the size of the fish and "The shore's covered with rattlers."
