Why not have a derby for private boat fisherman. Start one, and sell tickets.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!
never heard of a 15 lbs sea bass  state record is 10lbs. Pretty hard to believe that you have caught 5 that are 5lbs over the state record. Are you talking about black bass?

If I would have know that, then maybe my name would be in the states books, a time or so. But they sure ate good

That would be a good idea if I lived on the coast  Maybe when I retire, and move down there. But then having to deal with the state.

No, I sure don't, but I wish I did now  :bash:  And before anyone says "Without pic's it never happened",, if it wasn't for buckhorn2 I wouldn't have a pic of my king from this last trip.

Were have you been fishing? The coast has a lot of big fish still.
i have fished every port on the coast but mainly la push. There is no 15lb sea bass in Washington. Unless you are a better fisherman than anyone else has ever been or your scale is broke. I have caught thousands and thousands of bass over 200 this weekend alone. And I don't believe there is a 15lb sea bass in Washington. I am not trying to start a fight, but those fish never weigh out at what you think they do on a certified scale. That's why I wanted to see a picture. If anyone has a pic of a sea bass over 10.25 I would love to see it. Tony don't take this personal I call bull on all of my buddies to. Ben

There a lot of local business that pay the money for the derby it does;nt just come from charter ticket sales. I think Brady;s is one of the big cash business people who pay for the biggest salmon. I don't really have any say about the charter derby other than us taking our boys to the dock in the mornings. There are some pictures in old papers and also new beach articles showing the big derby winners and some of those were caught by sport fisherman one was of Dick Deveraux who won the derby and named his boat the derby Dick people local remember that and if you see pictures of three people holding salmon his is the big one in the middle. As far as Tony goes I had a great time fishing with him and his friend and so far his salmon is the biggest one weighed so far at the charter boat weigh station. This site is getting to be so critical a lot of people have quit posting pictures because of the reaction from people over pounds;inches or score anyway you look at it  myself included.
