Anyone been hearing any reports of it in Washington this year. Seems like it happens every year.

The area I hunt was hit extremely hard a few years back. The population is increasing each year.

Its usually associated with drought, and I wouldn't really deem this a drought year.

If it happened every year, we wouldnt need wolves.............
Stagnant water that doesnt cool off significantly over night is the culprit. Its a gnat larvae that is ingested that makes them sick......low overnight temps keep it mostly at bay in the north east....MOSTLY........
Blues gets is far more, as does south of I-90......stays warm at night, larvae live to pass on the disease.

South east Washington I hear of every year. But you're right it hasn't been much of a drought year. No bt means more deer to hunt! Why is it that in only affects whitetail?

Muledeer and Antelope occasionally get the disease, but aren't normally associated with it due to the fact they aren't usually associated with the environment that the gnats are in. Utah had an outbreak not too many moons ago with muledeer and the disease. The disease is really hard on sheep (domestic)

We've had some in recent years but I haven't heard of any yet. September is usually the worst month for it, so it could still happen.

So long as it continues to be cool overnight, we should be OK, Been in the mid to upper 40s here for 5 days, so hoping that lasts what with elk season at the door step.

That's funny, living up in the NE corner and dealing with them buggers every fall.
