Mule Tape
«
on:
August 19, 2013, 09:24:28 PM »
Before last season I bought a roll of mule tape. I got tired of it always being in the way so I refurbished a metal hose reel and welded the framework together so it fits my receiver hitch. I think it turned out good.

What is the rating for that? Would that drag an elk?

Jealous. I have about 250' of it I got from a jobsite one time. Intense breaking strength and lite. Hope to turn die it a red this year.

It was an old metal garden hose reel that was going be thrown away. I took it off the busted stand and reinforced it. I took square tubing and angle iron and welded it together to make the mount for it. I drilled a hole through the square tubing and it fits the receiver on the truck. The roll of tape was about 275 before tax and I had the metal. Hopefully I will pull an elk out with it here in a couple weeks.

I've heard great things about that stuff. But I'm confused? How do you plan to move the elk? With the hand crank on the role? Is there gear reductions in there? Were you planning to use your truck and drag it out? If so how were you going to lock the role in place? I really like your set up, but I gotta know more about it.

Hurricane,
Can you tell me where you bought the mule tape? Any links to the exact stuff? It seems people call it lots of things and I dont want to buy the wrong stuff.
Thanks!
