Help! Badlands 2200 question.

Camofire is having their sale on the Badlands 2200 2012 model.  with less than an hour left I am wondering for those who use one....Is it too big for a day trip?  I was worried it may be too hot for september bowhunting?  I do love the idea of taking meat out on the first trip though?

I bought one last winter, been using it on a couple over nighters here latly. In my opinion it's just a bit big for day hunts but, you could get a quarter out if you killed something. I was thinking of selling mine for 120.00 because its just not quite big enough for 2 or 3 day stays. I was thinking about going for the 4500 if anyone has input on that model. But to get back to your question, maby, but it could work. They do feel good on your back.

Its what I use.  Now I wouldn't go back to a smaller pack. Has all my gear and water clothes calls etc.  Weight is not an issue really and makes a great pillow rest for a nap.  Back can get sweaty for sure so ya lil warm at times.  Great all around pack for me 2 years running.

I use mine as a day pack and it is perfect for me. I think this will be the 4th or 5th year of using it with no complaints,   I personally like to be over prepared than under when I go out.

I know you are interested in it because it is on sale but I really like my Eberlestock X2. It is great for a day pack but you can also strap on a good amount of weight. I recently packed in about 40 lbs of gear and barely knew it was there.

Another vote for the 2200.  used it last year for early archery and it worked out perfectly.  Not the lightest pack on the market but it's functionality far outweighs the extra few ounces.  Between the spotting scope/tripod compartments, back panel zip acess and the best warranty in the business it's hard to beat IMO.

Thanks for all the info guys!  I pulled the trigger.  I already have the Camelbak Stryker for a smaller daypack, but really wanted a better option for carrying camp on my back which is my favorite mode of elk hunting.  I have done it with my current set-up, but had to add a fanny pack, and really go light.  I will check in after the season in case someone is watching this thread with the same question. Thanks again!

Great choice! I think it is a great size for a day pack.  You'll always have enough room and your bag will never be busting at the seams.  I also like it because I can carry everything I need along with everything my wife needs (water, snacks, lunch, jacket) on a day hike.

Don't think you will regret it.  I know a few guys who use this exclusively for Elk hunting and have packed out way more weight  than the pack was designed to carry without any issues.

I won't own another badlands pack... had a 2800 and had numrrous issues with rips/tears and flaws. Quality just wasn't there for me. I now own a eberlestock j107 and am very pleased with it.

How was the return/repair process with Badlands? I have heard nothing but good things about their warranty program so curious what your experience was.

I never actually used it. I always just fixed it myself.
I don't care how good warranty service is if something breaks almost every time I use it... warranty does me no good then.

I have called badlands a couple times under warranty and they have been awesome.  I slammed the belt buckle in my truck door and they sent me a new one for free even when I said I would pay.  Also my pack did not have the gun scabbard and they sent me that for I think $5 shipped.  They also sent me the zipper replacement parts that break on most people's packs but have not had to use those just have them just in case.. I love my 2200 for the price and serves me great on all my hunts..
