 :dunno: After seeing that bait station I seen a few days ago and doing some research, Its got me thinking maybe It was intentionaly set for bear, The design the look, the sign AROUND it..
Wonder if its worth reporting and letting a game warden decide from there.



Anyways. I was curious as to how alot of you guys set up your bait stations for deer/elk? Id like to establish one for me and my girl to hunt with treestands to make sure we have meat in the freezer durring late archery.
What stuff do you use for what time of year?

I've used apples piled up on the ground in the past it attracts stuff like other hunters, never saw deer other hunters set up a created a cross fire so I got pissed and left.  This year I'm going to use corn feed I've good things and apparently Walmart sells for for livestock.  If you ever watch hunting shows they just pile stuff on the ground at stand and blind sites within range.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

Id rather use a barrel instead of sticking stuff directly on the ground.

I make it a deer bait buffet.  Couple of salt blocks, apple piles, a pile of corn, piles of anything else I can get (used purina deer chow once).  Then scatter a little around to help get their attention.  For the apples, a few get thrown really hard at trees so they explode and get juice/scent out there for the deer.  Even cut a few apples open and rub on the salt blocks.

Salt in may, apples in august til you run out of trees to pick from throw them out and spread them around so they can't just stand in one place and pig out. Elk can eat A LOT of apples in one sitting once they get that in their veins they keep chasing that dragon...
