I sure wish I knew what I know now before I gave him money and made my daughter not want to finish out the season. That's what I'm most upset about losing her desire to hunt. Some people you only get one chance to make a good first impression. She's one of those that's why I went with a guide

look at it like this. first no hunt is guaranteed unless its in the zoo. second, yes like taking them first time to a fish pond to have guaranteed fish is the goal so that they want to do it again. think about it, that would only make her enjoy the shooting part. you THINK that would get her hooked, but it only accrues impatience i think.

hunting is about so much more then that, especially with you. its about the time together, the hours YOU< DAD spent with her and gave her alone and that means most to them. that they KNEW you spent all your time with them, for them, and they had your undivided attention. its about learning new things seeing new things and experiencing new things, together. teach her to make a fort, a firepit, start a fire with sticks, make a tee pee together, see who can spot the first poop, game trail, or even the first animal. there are 5 trillion things to see do touch smell and experience together the hunt is the smallest part of it for me when im with my son. last year we ate 6 tags, guess what, didnt care, our time together truly changed his troubled teen soul for the better and our time and the things he experienced he still cannot stop talking about

THAT is what a father child hunt is about, not just shooting something dead. I think that if you take the time on your second hunt together and make it a total experience just the 2 of you, she will be hooked just for these reasons all alone!

this wasnt your only chance trust me, youll get more and they will be much better keep the faith

And that is the truth of the matter!
I remember the time I spent with my father, and now my son will remember the time he spent with me.
That is the essence of the experience.

Just joined this forum today, and after reading all these Barbour posts I couldn't help but weigh in as well.  My son and I hunted with Barbour this fall, and even though we made the most out of spending our time together in the "woods" I feel completely duped by the exaggerated chance at game, quality of hunt, etc.  It was a VERY expensive lesson - shame on me for not doing my homework.

I've gone on a number of guided and outfitted hunts, but this one was a scam.  It was by far the most overpriced, over rated, line of B.S. I have ever encountered.  I know not all guides and outfitters run these kinds of scams, but he's giving everyone in that profession a bad name.

Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me... :bdid:

The guys wife has wounded and lost a big bear and giant buck so far this year. Have yet to see him take a respectable animal. It's really too bad guys like this are able to continue running a business taking advantage of people and making a bad name for real guides.

Thanks Gringo31.  I'm enjoying the site and area so far, other than the outfitter experience.  Nice bear in the picture - Alaska?

This was fine laying around for a year plus without getting bumped.
Barbour can now thank you for the attention level increase.   :chuckle:

Is there any more info about this outfitter and Weyco?  I seem to recall a thread posted a few weeks ago with grapevine speak.
