Really enjoy this unit. It is a long drive from Everett but so worth it once your in the woods. Walked into my spot this morning and did not see much. Would walk a ways and stop, then walk some more and stop. Walked into a clear cut and did not see anything, then turned to see a doe jumping through the logs. Boy they can get up  high! Tried to stalk in on her but she had seen me well before I saw her.

Walked up another road and heard a bear foraging in the treeline. Could not get eyes on him and did not have a call to get him out. Never seen a bear in the wild yet, plenty of droppings.

Such a great reward for getting up early and being the first in the woods. One of these days I will get some meat.

Any pointers for getting those bears to come out of the forest?

Been all over 437 the last two days. Have seen zero deer sign. Zero. As a veteran eastern washington hunter, I completely underestimated the terrain and area in general. We have recreatio property in the area so my family was able to come as well. Don't get me wrong, I intend to press on. But very discouraged at this point.

Good luck to you sir!

Yeah its only ment for real mountain men  :chuckle: :chuckle: Seriously if you like brush and steep arz mountains then have at it ...to kill something in this county you have to work for it ....once in awhile someone gets lucky and see a big one in the road but as much law enforcement I seen yesterday I would recommend getting out and making sure its not a decoy  :chuckle:

CTA, you are right. It is really tough, hilly, and unforgiving. The brush is thick and you can walk right by them and have no idea there is anything living close to you.

Bowhunter, where did you end up seeing all the law enforcement? Wonder if it was due to the number of people fishing and not the opener of bow season?

Will press on. Have Friday-Sunday at the end of the week off from work as well. Then the following Thursday-Sunday.

if your anywhere around Skagit county they are behind every tree ....  :yeah: there were people everywhere yesterday ...the river was wall to wall and so was the mountains ...I seen people everywhere until I left the truck and got in the brush ...most people do not care for bear infested forests  :yike:

BH45 just has a special place in their heart and they like to keep him close.  :chuckle:

Not paying attention I just asked about this unit in the Deer area. I am wondering what the northern side of 437 holds.... I've only ever hunted the South side (Cavanaugh/ North ofWhitehorse Entry).

I'd love to bump a bear and maybe actually see some animals...
