Thanks guys, and to answer your question Bone no I'm not a big velvet fan either. Its just that the bigger buck are the last to rub it off in the area I hunt. As a matter of fact my dad needed something to do a couple days ago so he stripped the velvet off. I scored the buck again and came up with 174.5 which is only 2 inches less then what I scored it with the velvet on. I think someone said they take 5% off the score when you keep the velvet on

that's not even in the same ballpark, at least on my buck.
Does anyone know the best way to get some color in the horns? I've herd of shoe polish, is that the way to go? This baby is bleached white right now.
