Three Cows and bull with hoof rot.
« on: September 01, 2013, 09:31:38 PM »
Took this video of a few residential Elk here in Cowlitz County that have the rot bad.  Go to this link to see Hoof rot Elk in Cowlitz County.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

Wow, really to bad.  A suffering and pain they must get used to.  It appears to be tender to walk on.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

That's hard to watch.  Feel bad for the animals.

So is hoof rot a disease that gets spread from animal to animal or a fungus or is it something they get from being in damp swampy areas?

I don't know much facts about the rot and what causes it.  I just know that I see it a lot all over the st Helens tree farm.  I hope that the wdfw has a plan of action to help these animals, or at least figure out the root cause.  That cow on the right at the end of the video looked like all it had was a huge club for a hoof.
