awsome first day!
« on: September 07, 2013, 10:22:50 PM »
Got a call from my cousins bro in law and he had fresh elk sign and wanted help so we jetted over to help track them down . We walked to the end of this road and I cow called and got an immediate answer...game on.....I cow called a few more times and got a bugle so we made a game plan and circled way around to get down wind and we got in position....I set up 60 yds behind them and called for them....within minutes a 2 yr old cow came running to my calls and hit the brakes at 20 yds perfect broadside...my Cruz told his bro n law not to shoot its too small :bash: this was his third day archery hunting.....I told him don't pass on somthing you will take on the last day....the bull would never show himself...he would bugle once in a while...but would do it real quiet...he did chuckle a few times too....pretty exciting for his bro in law....his first time hearing all this and getting this close.....for an evening hunt we went to another spot and got a bugle response right away....Monday he seen a 6x7 in this spot so were hoping its him....it was to late to follow so we will be at it in the morning again...good luck everyone hope to have pics of him tomorrow

Third day archery hunting, 20 yard, broad side shot, to small :dunno:......did I miss that memo? Good luck to you guys, sounds like a lot of fun but I do not think I would have passed on a good shot on my first archery elk  :chuckle:.

Sounds like a great day in the woods to me.  I am sure you have a bowhunter for life now with the experience you helped him get.
