Opening morning Toutle double
«
on:
September 08, 2013, 12:17:28 PM »
Went in deep opening morning in toutle special permits in hand and ready to go. Located the first bull (6x4)below with a bugle, then sweet talked him out of the deep old growth timber with an estrus call. Got him at 40yds through the front shoulder then hit em with one more. While we let him expire we made our way around the knob we were up on and glassed up a small herd with a 4x4 that my partener was ok with taking. He wasn't talking at all so we got into his zone and set up. I called and he came to check it out, but held up. The bull decided to turn and lead his cows away so I grabed a stick and started thrashing the jack fir I was hiding behind let out a chuckle and that was it. He turned around and decided to walk right up 30yds broadside to my shooter and that was it! Thanks to everyone who helped with the info on this special permit.

Nicely done! We were hunting the south side of the unit, had a 5x5 at 93 yards but couldn't close the distance. Haven't had them respond to any calls yet. Did you say that first bull bugled? We moved to the north side of the unit for the rest of the week. Congrats man!
