High buck 2013
« on: September 16, 2013, 06:44:30 PM »
Was able to notch my deer tag on the high hunt opening day. We spent a few days prior to the opener watching a couple bucks, including this guy who would briefly show himself before bedding up. I spotted him on his way out of our basin at first light Sunday, and was able to get him stopped, ranged and killed at about 325yds. We decided after boning him out to go break camp and roll out before the $hit storm hit as we could feel it coming, and boy am I glad we did because it got nasty. Good luck to those still on the mountain hunting smart..... but not to the morons who show up in the dark, the night before opener, and put up camp in the middle of the basin's these bucks call home all summer until they get there.....sorry, had to say it. Annnyways, here's the pics....

Nice job!  How old do you think he was?  That sounded too easy though. Homework pays off!

Im thinking he's 4 1/2, doubt he's 5 1/2 but maybe. As far as easy, ive done this hunt for a long time and this is only the second buck ive taken, every muscle I have hurts right now, my hips and lower back have blisters from my waist belt and my feet are shot :chuckle:
