the pheasant area over by port angeles got shut down, so maybe the guys that used to hunt there will head east to the remaining sites.

Last year the guys from PA were carpooling down to the Belfair site. Nice to meet them, a few nice guys, I wondered how much their pheasants costs  :yike:. But when you think about it how do you put price on climbing through a clear cut littered with branches, tree tops, stumps, holes and water, in the pouring rain with 90 other guys out to get their 2 birds a piece, only to be made more sporting by the release of 50 birds  :chuckle:

I have not decided if I will buy a license this year I bought two for the kids, and I took them out last weekend but with scouts, sports, deer hunting, and life I do not know how many times we will get out with all our closest friends as mentioned above.

I think this is my last year buying a westside ditch chicken grocery permit. My local site is closing down and there are way too many good grouse hunting spots between me and the next nearest pheasant release circus to pass up.

Looks like you'll be hunting in a pouring rain and 40mh winds if you're going Sunday.

These things are all over my dad's farm near the east end of Riffe Lake. There is a WDFW fowl release area about a mile down the road from him. My dad sends my 6 and 9 year old kids after them with their Red Ryder, or their PVC bow and arrow sets. It's pretty funny to watch. I think last Sunday when I was there we seen two hens and two cocks. It was pouring down rain, and it amazed me how much bigger they can look when they ruffle their feathers to keep warm in the rain.

Good luck with your hunt.

I'm going both days.  I tend to go in the afternoons.  I just get the license to proof the dogs on different grounds so they are really ready to hit E WA later.  It is our intermediate step from hunt test/ field trials to full open throttle.  I live very close to the three ring circus of Stillwater, Cherry valley and Crescent Lake so afternoons are better for me and I love the off days when no one is around but the dogs are super heightened. Best training days around for owner/ handlers, IMO.
Happy hunting!
