Muzzle Loader 2013
« on: September 28, 2013, 09:59:59 PM »

Got this guy today after hunting him for 3 weeks with my bow. I missed him once at 53 yards and have not had another chance till today. I wasn't sure about the $180 multi season tag but am glad i payed now.

For the guys that like to see the gear list:
Traditions Tracker 209 (with #11 nipple) Aftermarket Tru glow sights
100 gr pyrodex
338 gr Power Belt Platinum
Vortex Ranger 1000 Rangefinder
Leupold Mesa Binos

Surprised how small his body looks.  Was he public land?

The first time i saw him in early September he was in velvet and i didn't think anything about it because it was september. I didn't realize he was in velvet today until after i had killed him and walked up on him because it happened so fast.  When i rolled him over i discovered he had a sack but nothing in it. When i field dressed him there were no nuts to be found.

He bounced around from our farm to a neighbors ranch and spent most of the summer on Walk-in-Hunting land. I shot him on the walk-in.

The pics don't do his body justice it is bigger than it looks. I wasn't trying but i think i long armed in a couple shots or the camera was too close to his face  :dunno:

Nice buck. Congrats.  I saw the pic early this week from your brother.  I shot a buck once near there in December and was still in velvet and horns were very fragile   It to had one small testicle maybe lost jumping a fence?

Cryptorchid. Usually they can be found but unless you know what you're looking for and where it's tough, especially when gutting. Possible to be non existent, though less likely. Great buck!

His frame is so normal I think I may have missed them when I opened him up. I really don't think anyone is tampering with the herd.
