Well there you go, 6 year old thread that started looking for a deer hunting spot now has a little bit of elk and moose all blended in.  Pretty hot little spot if you factor in the fire talk as well. 

So since this is completely off the original topic at this point, was anyone hurt other than the moose?  This was on the Orondo side of the river?That had to be a shock BTW.

I googled the moose thing and it looks like they show up around there from time to time but I am guessing if there is one in front of you on the highway it is still a big shock.

It was a young cow moose anyways that was hit.

FYI this is a six year old thread that got revived so that Palmer could let us know he saw a dead elk on the side of 97.  Skyvalhunter then chimed in that it used to be good for elk and there should still be some elk in the area.

I am thinking the OP came up with a spot for his kids to hunt, they are young adults now.
