My 2013 buck
« on: September 29, 2013, 04:40:34 PM »
Went out and did some glassing yesterday morning. We ended up spotting a group of bucks and watched them for a couple hours and waited for them to bed down. I snuck around and crawled up on them and was able to shoot this guy around 60-70 yards. He dropped and was down for the count. The rain let up and the wind was blowing perfect. It really could not have been a better hunt! This guy is a 4x5 with 3 inch eye gaurds and 27 inches wide.

Great buck was he in desert country? He still has a lot of velvet hanging on.

Yeah there really wasn't much around for him to rub on. If any body is noticing that he isn't gutted in the pic it's because we dragged him down hill to the truck and wasn't a real long ways from home. I figured with the cool temperature the meat would be alright and it's be a lot cleaner gutting it in my pasture. Paid off really well. The gut cavity wasn't full of weeds. Only thing I didn't consider was how heavy a buck is full of guts. What a work out!

That thing is huge!? Just out of curiosity do you have a guestimated score on him? I have no idea how to do that, but I'll throw out a W.A.G. of 150. CONGRATS!

Hard to see but if you zoom in on the top picture you can see that both sides have the same kicker.
