Old hunter, new places, help appreciated
« on: October 05, 2013, 12:18:32 PM »
For most my life I have hunted in either packwood area and okanogan. This year I am looking to try out a few new spots. I've heard a lot of good things about Goldendale (klickitat region) and I also have a buddy who lives in between Moses lake and ephrata and I'm gonna try a weekend out there. I'm just curious if anyone knows of good trails/ roads/ public land to hunt off of in either of those regions. Last thing I wanna do is wander around dead spots or where there is a lot of private property. Thanks for any help.

THe Goldendale/Klickitat area does have a lot of deer, but it also has a lot of people, and a lot of predators. Its definitely not a slam dunk. There is also a lot of very thick, and very steep ground depending on where you are at. If you are willing to walk, there are some areas where you can get away from people which is nice.

A good start would be the Glenwood Hwy between Goldendale and Glenwood. Once you turn off of Hwy 142 and head north there are a few public access points, and lots of private timberland. Once you make it to the canyon (its obvious) You can pretty much hunt where ever you want. Had some very fun hunts in that area.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

I don't mind getting out and hiking so that sounds perfect. Thanks for the reply.
